These ratings are powered by a global community of users who rate the websites based on their own experiences, for better or for worse. The advantage is that it is if a large number of "ratings" is involved, the rating is hard to manipulate. The disadvantage is for smaller sites, they are at the mercy of biased "reviews". Their safe browsing tool is available free. They also offer a WOT "Trust Seal" for websites to purchase - this supposedly enhances the trust level of the website with their customers. I don't really trust all these "seals" unless they are backed up by some government authority. Even if they are backed up by the government, I find the whole concept just plain wrong. |
