Getting the public awareness is part of an aid agency's job. Why? Because if nobody knows about the problems in poverty stricken countries, nobody will act anyway. Most of us don't go around searching and reading on problems and conflicts in other countries unless it happens to be on the news or some celebrity speaks up on. Anyway, this campaign is to raise awareness for the ongoing conflict in East Congo - the role of conflict minerals and the effects of sexual violence as weapons of war and terror. If enough awareness is achieved, they might just force the governments of the world to act to end the conflict in East Congo. Nothing wrong with that.... |
