Visit Scotland http://www.visitscotland.com/ You want to visit Scotland? After watching Braveheart, I am kind of scared of going to Scotland and getting beaten up by gangs of men wearing skirts. And damn, those Scots are some hairy blokes. Heck, just look at Mel Gibson. I am not saying that hairy men are disgusting or anything, but if you are hairy, you certainly should not wear a skirt when you go outside. However, the man reason I would like to visit Scotland is for their Whiskey. Great Scot, they do make the best Whiskey I ever tasted. And if you were to visit this official tourism site for Scotland, it is indeed a very charming and beautiful place. Just look at those castles, amazing scenery and structures. Makes me want to quit my job and fly down there immediately. Anyway, you will find tons of useful information on visiting Scotland in this site - accommodations, attractions, holiday ideas, packages, events, dining and so on.

Wiki Travel http://wikitravel.org/ The ultimate travel guide. And I really mean it. At time of writing, they have over 24 thousand destination guides and articles, all written by the public. That is what Wikis are all about. Reviews by real people and not by companies. This means that the guides are more or less fair. And just like all Wikis, anyone can comment or edit those guides. And with over 24 thousand destinations to choose from, you would probably don't know where to begin. This site offers daily updates, alerts and upcoming events. I think it is the only site you should be visiting when planning your holiday. Great help for the first time traveler as well.

Rome.info http://www.rome.info/ Rome wasn't build in a day. It was built online by someone who doesn't appreciate web 2.0 design and style. Nah, just kidding. This site is all about Rome. It is supposed to be one of the most comprehensive online guides to the ancient city of Rome. It offers its readers facts, information, tourist destinations, attractions, entertainment, lodging, transportation and most importantly - guides to museums. It has one of the richest cultural centers in the world. Apparently, Rome is one big open air museum. It is no wonder those pesky Gauls, Visigoths, Vandals and the Byzantines all want to sack Rome. Honestly, after reading this guide, I too want to go sack Rome.

Go Lisbon http://www.golisbon.com/ Portugal, one of the world's oldest empires. And Lisbon is the capital city of the country with a population of about 3 million inhabitants. If you have no idea where Portugal is, there are the closest European country to America via the Atlantic route. And since it is considered an old city, there are a lot of old charms which can still be found in the city. Visit this website to discover more about the city. You will find useful information like where to stay, what to do, what to see and even find out the reasons why you should visit Lisbon! Other than practical information, you can also check out their recommendations to make your stay in Lisbon very memorable. One of the things I hate about traveling is the need to plan and if you don't plan, there will be all sorts of problems popping up during the trip. But planning is tedious, so if you are not the planning type, this website is extremely helpful. And it reads like a history book if you are into these stuff.

Geobeats http://www.geobeats.com/ We have so many travel guides on the Internet claiming to offer the best guides to make your dream holiday come true, it can be very confusing actually. One site claim this while the other site claim that. Well, it makes making a decision all that harder, don't you think so? But do not fret, Geobeats is here to help. It is a travel guide with a slight difference - videos! So they cannot lie. Well, they can be biased but when there is video evidence I guess it is all that more difficult. This site showcases the real beauty of a city in video, so that you can truly appreciate the actual view before you even visit that country or city. I mean photographs are all cool and all that, but video is probably the best. Check out their editor's choice and make plans for the best holiday yet!

Greece Athens http://www.greece-athens.com/ Wow, the self-proclaimed complete guide to Athens, Greece. If you are into traveling one location at a time, you should love this site. Most people I know would rather travel one city and hop to the next city the very next day. But if you are into absorbing everything in the city first before moving on, then you should take a look at what this site provides. Check out all the interesting historical sites, the art galleries, events, nightlife, beaches, cruises, hotels, dining, shopping, weddings venues and so on. Or if you are just interested in some history lessons, they have it too. Download maps, travel directions, embassy information, e-cards and so on. One day, I would certainly want to travel to Greece. Just looking at their photo gallery makes me all weak in the knees. Hopefully Greece will not be as crowded as many of the tourist destinations I have been there. I kind of hate the crowd.

| Greek Landscapes http://www.greeklandscapes.com/ I know we have tons of travel guides out there. They are all the same - tons of words and useful information but it gets boring. And words will never do the places justice right? But photos will. I would rather a travel site have information and photos to back it all up. It is kind of difficult to visualize something if you have never seen it or have never been there. And since we are talking about the beautiful country of Greece, there is an added bonus of beauty. Oh come on, you will have to admit, Greece is indeed a very beautiful country. So check it out - travel guide to Greece with tons of photos. | Portugal Live http://www.portugal-live.net Ahhh....Portugal. One of the relatively less well-known gems of Europe. While everyone is flocking to Italy or France or even Germany, Portugal still remains relatively free from the hordes of tourists that plague Europe. This is good news for those of us who would like a little peace and quiet. And in such beautiful setting as well. Portugal is famous for their amazing architectures and museums. Sure, other parts of Europe has it too, but since Portugal is located at the Western end of Europe, their design is very distinct. And Portuguese cuisine is one of the best in the world. Don't get me started with their wines. One of the best. Anyway, check out this website - it contains a ton of information on Portugal - where to go, what to do, lodgings, useful facts, tips and so on. And check out their gallery - there are many beautiful photos of Portugal for you to ogle at. I think I am in love with Portugal. |

Travel + Leisure http://www.travelandleisure.com/ We need travel guides. Seriously. If there are no travel guides, we will all be kept in the dark about great travel destinations. I mean we just love traveling the world and looking at new sights, listening to new sounds and meeting new people. Perhaps it is human nature to be cautious and seek new lands to settle. Perhaps we just need to get away from our work or even our wives. But whatever it is, this site provides great ideas for our next trip overseas. Check out their comprehensive guides on the various popular destinations. Makes me feel like dropping everything and booking a flight to somewhere and not worrying about anything. Of course, that is not possible for me, but we can always dream right? And when you have a destination in mind, you can then plan for your next trip properly. Trust me, planning your trip is very important.
