PETA http://www.peta.org/ PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. I am all for animal rights and stuff but PETA comes across to me as something of a bully. Yes there are people out there who don't give a damn about animals or their welfare, but attacking them with red paint, illegal entry to premises and continuous mudslinging is not the way to go about making your point. Stinks of extremism, something which I will never support. They have the support of many celebrities which makes it easier for them to spend their massage across to the public. Yet they chose to do stunts. Their website is actually kind of toned down though and I think that is good. They have numerous articles and stories on animals and animal abuse, animal issues, what action to take if abuse is found and so on. Quite good information if you ask me. Oh if you want to help their cause, you can donate as well.

Cornucopia Institute http://www.cornucopia.org/ Very nice name - Cornucopia Institute. It is actually an organization to support and promote family-scale farming. Have you read on the news that the big corporations and whatever chemical companies are taking over the farmlands around the world? Well, this organization is there to stop that from happening. And I think it is a good thing, since corporations should never be allowed to control our food resources. All those antibiotics and chemicals they add to our food sources have never been fully tasted and researched and they want us to consume them? Come on, this is our health and our children's health we are talking about. I think it is great that someone is helping the small scale farmers. At least we have alternative sources of food when those large scale commercial farming fails due to their genetic modification.

The Fish Site http://www.thefishsite.com/ This site is all about fish. No, not that kind that you rear but the kind that is reared mainly for commercial purposes. Yes, those big boys with tons of cash and big ponds at their disposal. They are some sort of an online news site and they claim to provide technical information to the industry. One of the key things about the fishing industry is technical information and research. Most of us think that fishing is just about having a pond and throwing food into the food but honestly, that doesn't even come close. A lot of factors are involved. I can't even imagine how complex the entire process is. They provide useful information and articles along with events for those in the fishing industry (or aquaculture). So if you are in this industry, you might like to advertise or contribute to this site or even just join for free.

Hope For Paws http://www.hopeforpaws.org/ Animal rescue organization. What they do is to rescue animals from the streets (or from stressful or unhygienic shelters), then shelter them in their homes and find good homes for them. Although I myself never have a pet at home, I actually love animals. I remember when I was young, my favourite place (other than the arcade and mall) was the zoo. Too bad my family don't like animals. Anyway, I will be honest to you, although their mission sounds simple enough, Hope For Paws actually have their work cut out for them. It is not easy to rescue animals - they might be scared or if provoked, they might turn violent. And since the animals are usually on the streets, there might be others who claim ownership of those animals or the place might be owned by someone else who might refuse entry or even call the police on the rescuers.
