Ning http://www.ning.com/ Yes, just another social networking site. Ning allows you to create custom social sites - basically pages with your own profile. The same as most other social networking site on the Internet. So what makes Ning different from all the rest? Nothing. Absolutely nothing at all. Only thing that really differentiates Ning from the rest? Well, it is about making money from social networking. Not surprisingly, most social networking sites try not to make known about making money but Ning claims that you can use their platform for this purpose. But honestly, social networking is a good dough generator. People tend to trust social sites and will be more willing to purchase a recommendation from such sites. If you look carefully at popular blogs, that is exactly what they are doing to earn some revenue. You can also promote your brand, your products or your solutions through Ning's extensive community of sites.

Soup http://www.soup.io/ Not too sure where to categorize this. Maybe a simple blog with social networking features all jumbled in. And they try to make this site as simple as they can, so users do not need to spend much time updating their profile, writing stuff or uploading images or photos. Users can also aggregate content from other sites to their profile. Lets say you like someone's review on some new mobile phone, then just link it on your profile page! It is free to sign up. Other than that, it is just another social networking site to let your friends know what is going on with your personal life, even if it is crappy like mine. But for me, I think I will stick to the bigger name sites.

Tagged http://www.tagged.com/ Sometimes don't you just wish to meet people with the same interests as you? I mean if you have a passion for cars, don't you wish you could have a beer with people who loves cars as well? Or even just go online and have a discussion about cars? Well, you can do that - with Tagged. Basically it is some sort of "people suggestion" networking site which helps to recommend people to each other with the same interests. So you just key in your interests in your profile page and you can be able to find those with the same interests in your area. Other than that, it is just the usual social networking site where you can chat, play games, upload photos and videos and so on. Seems that everyone is getting into the social networking scene. Big companies, small start-ups and everyone in between is claiming to be the next big thing. I don't know about that, but I think social networking will remain big for the next few years.

MyLife http://www.mylife.com/ The social networking site formerly known as Reunion. Now it is known as MyLife. Why? Well because in the past, it is all about meeting lost and old friends from some event in the past. But I guess with the advent of the Internet and social networking, you will find less and less of such people. Just go on Facebook, you would most likely be able to find those friends anytime. And I guess probably it isn't really making that much money. More important that they start adding "businessmen" into the mix. So now you have it, the social networking site for everyone - you, me, your friends and relatives, your boss and his boss and that handyman that comes to your house to "fix" your things once per week. They claim to have over 50 million members. However, they are not that popular outside of North America, which is surprising considering what is normally popular in North America, is very popular elsewhere as well.
