World Wide Web Consortium (WWWC) is an international organization which develops web standards. They hope to develope such standards and protocols that ensure that the growth of web is sustained. They make use of "recommendations" and promotes it through education and training and even creates software for it. They also promotes open standards which serves to protect all interested parties. It sets guidelines and standards and controls trademarks and other intellectual property rights(including legal matters). It also manages the funds and contributions from contributors.
