The Apache Software Foundation (ASF) is responsible for providing support for Apache's range of software suites. These software includes SpamAssassin, Tomcat, Velocity, Cayenne, HTTPServer, Gump and so on. All these softwares are open-source. All projects are done by a group of developers with most contributions by the community in general. Since ASF is a volunteer based non-profit organization, they need support to provide bandwidth and server space for their projects. Donations are greatly appreciated.

Creative Commons is a charitable organization whose purpose is to help in sharing of creative information by providing a set of easy to understand licenses. These licenses enable writers or artists or coders to share their work with others while still retain some rights like credits or that such a work must remain freely available even after modification. There are 6 creative commons licenses to choose from like "no derivative works", "share alike" and so on. All licenses have the "fair use" clause. Creative Commons was founded in 2001 and at the end of 2002, started their first project.

TechSoup is a organization created to help share technology to non-profit organizations. They offers free support, information and even resources to such organizations. They have something called a "TechSoup Stock", where donated and discounted tehnology products can be purchased or loaned by non-profit organizations. And these organizations can have access to their articles, know-hows and even source for tech services on their directory. Members can interact with each other through the "profile" page or on the TechSoup forum.
