Target http://www.target.com/ Never heard of this company? Sure? They are as famous as Walmart and they sell nearly the same things. I am guessing that if we replace those crappy Walmart stores with the equally crappy Target stores, nobody would even notice. It is all about budgets and discounts here. The only reason why people are visiting the stores.Going to a Super Target hypermart is like going into another planet, it is just so big, filled to the brim with so many things that makes us all feel so little. Just like Walmart, they retail everything under the sun - from household items to furnitures to office equipments to groceries to toys to electronics to clothing. Their logo is the two red circles, one in the other. Makes it easier for you to throw a dart at it. However one would wonder why they call their company Target?

Newegg http://www.newegg.com/ Nope, they don't sell chicken eggs. Nor duck eggs. Nor crocodile eggs. They actually sell IT and consumer gadgets and accessories if you believe. Wonder why did they then name themselves "Newegg"? I honestly don't know what the boss was thinking when he invented that name. Anyway, Newegg has become the go-to choice for IT enthusiast and anyone looking for a fair price on It products and accessories. And they do have a very wide range of products for their customers to choose from - computer hardware, PCs, laptops, home theater systems, digital cameras, cell phones and software. All you need to get you high-tech cutting edge home office up and running. I like it because they often have very good deals. They are a mainly online shopping service.

Sports Authority http://www.sportsauthority.com/ We all like to pretend that we lead a active lifestyle don't we? I mean everyday I see people wearing their running shorts and shoes but their main purpose is to walk to the nearest diner to have their breakfast. Yes, sport clothing are usually more comfortable and dare I say even more practical than even the casual ones right? That is probably the main reason why sports apparels are always so popular. Sports Authority is one of the largest sports equipment and accessories retail stores in the country. They carry all the major brands like Adidas, Asics, New Balance, Nike, Under Armour and s on. Yes, it is still all about brand names in the sport apparel market. Customers tend to buy only the brand they like and there is a lot of brand loyalty involved.Their huge range of products include sporting equipment like treadmills, bicycles, boxing gloves, swimwear, footwear, fitness accessories, watches, yoga mats, skateboarding equipment, golf equipments, badminton racquets and much more. You can also visit their website and buy their products online.

Staples http://www.staples.com/ Yes, it is all about office supplies here. Staples is one of the major suppliers of office supplies and equipment in the country with over 2000 stores in numerous countries around the world. And of course office supplies would be a big thing - who doesn't need pencils, pens, staples, paper, toner inks, cutters, files, binders, stick-its and all those small little stuff. We all might take it for granted that office supplies appears out of nowhere but seriously, we all know at the back of our minds that it has to come from somewhere. And not only office supplies, Staples retails office equipment as well. You can find computers, printers, office cabinets, furniture, communication equipment, water dispensers and so on. Everything you need to properly set-up your office, you can find it in their store. And yes, you can purchase it online as well.

Diva http://www.diva.net.au/ A top notch fashion jewelery retailer based in Australia. They offer their customers up to minute jewellery at reasonable prices.Starting from just one store, they now have more than 160 stores in Australia and New Zealand. Not too bad for a relative young company which just started in 2003. With a young team of talented designers backing them up, it is not surprising that they are huge. They are currently expanding into different countries around the world with their concept stores.

Dollar Tree http://www.dollartree.com/ If only there is such a tree, we would all be farmers right now. Who won't want to have a tree that produces actual dollars? Anyway, this is a "1 dollar" discount retail store which honestly isn't one. Sure they may have some of their items at the one dollar price but most of their items and merchandise are often more than that. They are more of a bulk retailer, selling in bulk to save on cost. Their inventory mainly include party supplies, school and office equipment, art & craft supplies, toys, kitchen accessories and so on. Some of their stores even sell dairy and frozen consumable goods. They also sell their stuff online. However, you probably won't find serious and useful items here. And as with all discount stores, some of their items are of questionable quality.

Big Lots http://www.biglots.com/ Do you love big names but cannot afford them? If so, then you are just like me. I love all those big brand names but as you know, I am often broke, thus I cannot afford their big brand prices. But Big Lots have this great idea - they sell you big brand names at a much lower price. The catch is that all the products are either close-out or overstock items. Which means you won't get the latest models but you will still get the cheaper price. Yes, it is mainly for all you cheapskates out there. The biggest joke of it all, Big Lots usually take over those supermarkets or big stores which have closed down and convert it to a "Big Lot". They often have this weekly deals, which showcases the various products at a reduced price. Big Lots have this wholesale mart which sells items in bulk, but all the merchandise in this wholesale section are different from the ones in their retail store. I guess they want to differentiate their customers from the stores that serve hoarders and cheapskates.

Office Depot http://www.officedepot.com/ Well, you can get everything you need for an office here. That is why they are called "office Depot". You can get stationery, filing cabinet, paper files, office furniture, computers, printers and so on. If you need office supplies, they have it, down to the coffee for your office flask. And you can have them delivered to your place. I guess everyone buys things online nowadays. It is so convenient. Just a few clicks and you will have your stuff sent to you. No more going down to the store and browsing through rows and rows of things just to find what you need. But if you are old fashioned, check out their store locator to find the store nearest to you. I would definitely prefer to have my stuff delivered to me. It is not like I am interested in the material or whatever like when shopping for clothing. And with such a huge (and confusing) variety of stock available, it might make more sense to shop online.

Woodfield Mall http://www.shopwoodfield.com/ Quite a nice website right? It is too bad the design of their shopping mall does not match the "niceness" of their site. Perhaps it is time for a overhaul of their mall. That is the best way to get more customers and retain what they have now. But seriously, shopping is the pastime for most Americans, so it shouldn't be much of a problem. Shopping then eating, then watching some movies and then back to shopping - that is the life of most Americans on Sundays. Anyway, Woodfield Mall is one of the largest malls in the United States. It was opened in 1971 - probably why it looks a bit down these days and contains about 300 stores. Hohoho, I can see many readers eyes open wide at this. You can do all your shopping under one roof. Isn't life great? Visit their website and check out the latest offers and events they have going on. And download their map while you are at it.

Freehold Raceway Mall http://www.freeholdracewaymall.com/ They call this a "high-end" shopping mall. Cool isn't it? Probably it means that most of the shops there retail stuff which are more expensive and have a certain "value" to it. Does not mean that other shopping malls do not have the same stores but they ensure that you won't get like Target or other budget retail shops here. Leave those to the huddled masses. High class folks need a higher class of retail therapy. I guess this is a win-lose situation. The problem is stores here will suffer during poor economic times but for other shopping malls without the luxury tag will probably have some pretty strong anchors still surviving. But of course when the economy is good and everyone can afford a higher class of luxury, this mall would probably be crowded. The mall has over 250 stores on just 2 floors. I can't find a way to download the mall directory but don't worry, this being high end, they should have staff around to guide you when you are lost.

Woodbridge Center http://www.woodbridgecenter.com/ I am guessing there isn't enough shopping malls in the whole of the United States. Everywhere you turn you will spot a shopping mall, its carpark full of vehicles and the floors filled with throngs of eager shoppers. We are shopping ourselves to debt. Honestly, how many pairs of shoes do we need? How many set of laptops do we want? How many fingers do we have to fit those diamond rings? Come on, some people say it is therapeutic to go shopping but if done to the extreme, it might be even more dangerous to go shopping to relieve stress. Anyway, Woodbridge Center is yet another shopping mall. It has over 180 stores with 5 anchors. And surprisingly, this mall does not have a food court. Perhaps they realize that food court actually distracts shoppers from shopping.

Scottsdale Fashion Mall http://www.fashionsquare.com/ Don't you just wish you could live in a mall. Then you don't need to worry about transport or weekend crowds and so on. If you need something, just pop down to the mall below and get it. Of course you might need to change your attire first. So very convenient, don't you think so. Probably why shopping malls are so attractive even though most of them lack the personal touch. We are all lazy and do not want the hassle of traveling from one store to another store located about 500 feet away. We just want it nearby. Yes it is human nature to be lazy and I guess the malls are nothing wrong. Anyway, Scottsdale is located in Arizona and is the largest shopping mall there. They have over 200 stores there, so you should not get bored while you are there. It was built in 1961 and people have been flocking there since then. I kid you not, shopping is one of the most popular pastime here.

Oakbrook Center http://www.oakbrookcenter.com/ I always like things with the word "oak" in it. Whether it is shopping malls, inns, restaurants or wine, oak seems to make everything very homely. Maybe it is just my mind playing tricks on me, but well that is me. Anyway, Oakbrook Center is a shopping mall and it is one of the largest in the United States. But not just any shopping mall, this one is a bit upscale. So don't you try going there in your shorts and expect to be treated like royalty, understand? And we are talking about an open air concept, not your usual in door mega mall. Yes, at least something different. Not too shabby if you ask me. You don't find many open-air malls here. It has more about 160 stores, so with so many choices you should not get bored there. Honestly, I like the open-air concept better - indoor air conditioned malls are okay but they lack that European elegance that makes shopping in Italy or parts of Europe so much more enjoyable.
